
Weekly Congregational Newsletter
This is a weekly newsletter that shares ongoing church news with the congregation. If you are hosting an event at church, you must first reserve space and schedule it on the church calendar before submitting your announcement for Happenings. Announcements about external community events or programs that could be of interest to the congregation (“Community News”) may be submitted to be reviewed and included at the discretion of the staff.
Submitting Your Announcement
Once you have properly scheduled your event, meeting, or program, scroll down to read the Happenings submission guidelines. Then, follow the link to the Happenings Submission Form.
BEFORE YOU SUBMIT –
Check the Church Calendar and Reserve Space
If your event, meeting, or program is happening at church, you MUST fill out the Event/Program Request Form to reserve space BEFORE submitting a Happenings article. You must receive confirmation from our Events Coordinator and see the event scheduled on the calendar before you submit your announcement for Happenings.
To request a room for a church event, meeting, or program, check the church calendar to see what has already been scheduled for the day(s) you would like to hold your event. If your desired event date is open (meaning there are no conflicts with events already scheduled on the calendar), proceed to the Event/Programming Request Form.
This step applies to all announcements that fall into the “SCHEDULED CHURCH EVENT OR PROGRAM” submission category. Thank you for helping us avoid scheduling conflicts in our shared space!
Submit to Happenings
* To ensure your announcement appears in the upcoming Friday newsletter,
you must complete the Happenings Submission Form by Wednesday at 4:00pm.
To submit an announcement for the weekly congregational newsletter, complete the Happenings Submission Form. Articles and announcements should fall under one of these categories to be included in the newsletter:
📌 SCHEDULED CHURCH EVENT OR PROGRAM: Includes anything hosted at First Universalist Church that is organized by an active church group and scheduled on the church calendar.
📌 INVITATION TO VOLUNTEER: Includes calls to volunteer for a specific group, recruiting new Sunday/Weekday volunteers, or specific invitations to get involved with active First Universalist groups.
📌 COMMUNITY NEWS: Includes events, programs, or informational notices that members of our community and congregation may want to know, but is not hosted at church; submissions to Community News must include contact information because it’s unlikely staff will be able to answer questions about the information provided.
📌 STAFF: Includes announcements about staff-led events OR programs, or news and announcements for the congregation. *FOR STAFF USE ONLY
📌 MAKE CHANGES / UPDATE CONTENT: Request changes or updates to an announcement previously submitted (currently running) in Happenings.
📌 OTHER: Includes anything that doesn’t fall into one of these categories, but is still important to share with members and friends of First Universalist Church.
