About Our Whole Lives (OWL):
Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a comprehensive, age-appropriate, and values-based sexuality education program developed in partnership by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and the United Church of Christ (UCC).

OWL supports healthy development by providing accurate information, fostering self-awareness, and encouraging thoughtful decision-making. The program helps young people build a strong foundation of respect—for themselves and others—while exploring topics such as relationships, communication, boundaries, and identity in a safe, inclusive, and faith-informed environment.

All classes are held at First Universalist Church of Denver and take place on Sundays.

Any questions please reach out to our FFRE Team Letitia Henderson or Naomi Blackwood.

About the OWL Program

Our whole lives is a guided class for age appropriate, values based, comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula for use in both secular settings and faith communities, created in partnership by the UUA and UCC. OWL helps to provide honest, accurate information about sexuality that changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. This curriculum includes interactive workshops and activities that engage participants, while step-by-step instructions for program planners and facilitators help ensure success.

Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their relationships, sexual health and behavior. With a holistic approach, OWL provides accurate, developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality.

Why is this Important for My Child?

Teaching about age-appropriate sexual education can save lives. The state of Colorado does not require schools to teach about sexual education or HIV. OWL not only covers topics surrounding sex, relationships, and decision making around both; OWL also helps to instill values in our children and youth such as:

  • Self Worth
  • Sexual Health
  • Responsibility
  • Justice
  • Consent
  • Inclusivity
